January 18th, no plastic bags will be given out in the market. That's right, none!
In December, Girl Scouts and local volunteers conducted a plastic bag audit. Thanks to their efforts, we learned that our market used 1,985 bags in one day. That's over 100,000 plastic bags every year. We decided we could do better.
So on January 18th we’re going cold turkey. No plastic bags in the market. We hope this one day will have a lasting impact, and show our vendors and customers that we don’t need them!
Please remember to bring your own bags every week (and especially on January 18th). Together we can make a difference!
